Crockpot Sausage and Pasta Sauce

This is an easy, hearty, and delicious main dish, shared by Jamie G!  You can’t go wrong with this at your next potluck.

Using sausage links in this recipe also makes great Italian sausage sandwiches.  The leftovers can be frozen, although I doubt you’ll have any!


2 pounds mild or spicy Italian sausage (ground or links)

1 jar of your favorite pasta sauce

2 – 14.5 oz Hunts stewed tomatoes

1 sliced onion

1 sliced bell pepper

1/4 cup red or white wine (optional)

1 tsp. dried oregano

1 tsp. dried basil

1 tsp. garlic salt


Spray crockpot with PAM and put in sausage (if you use ground sausage, Jamie recommends putting pinches of the sausage into the bottom of the crockpot), onion, and bell pepper.  Pour in the pasta sauce, stewed tomatoes, wine, oregano, basil, garlic salt, and pepper.  Cook on low for 4 to 5 hours (or on high for 3 hours) or until sausage is cooked.  Serve over any type of pasta noodle.
